Wednesday, July 14th (Bastille Day): Structures

Today, the topic was structures. The different research teams had to build dome structures big enough for them to sit inside and successfully completed this task, although it was not easy! See these pictures to judge for yourself! One more way to use this structure: as a safe space During sports hour, Jillian praised the archery skills of her students. Here are some shots of that: Here are some pictures from last week´s Mixed Martial Arts workshop that we hadn´t posted then: Finally, Garci helped the young scientists design a really cool video game consisting of a vaccine needle killing Covid viruses! It´s a great way of contextualizing video game design. Alas, Rosi had to communicate with the scientists´ parents today given the fact that Villafranca will be confined (on lock-down) beginning today at midnight. We had to make some changes to our final party, but not the final performance: The show must go on!!!

Music and Science - constructing an electric, programmed piano

On Thursday, the topic of the day was music and science. The campers had to construct an electric piano by programming keys with the computer. This was quite challenging for the youngest group, but they still managed to produce a cool tune, while the older groups invited us to impressive concerts with VIP entrances for the judges. Here are some videos of what we witnessed: We also switched our sports rotation, and Garci taught the campers the rules of handball. They played very well! During dinner, García entertained us with an amazing magic show: don´t worry! It is quite harmless. Emilio thought it was very funny! Tuesday July 6 - Topic of the Day: Balance and Juggling!

Good evening to the families of our students! Today we followed a schedule that is very similar to yesterday’s, but this morning our students had their first language and culture classes with their Team Leaders. The Team Leaders taught their students about topics that interest them as a way to teach English. Today’s topic was Balance and Juggling. Our students made their own juggling balls from rice and balloons. They also used other materials that they made on their own or that were provided by Garci. Each team created their own circus performance using what they made as part of our daily challenge. Ultimately, Andrea’s Avatars were the winners of the challenge today! Students continued with the same mandatory and elective workshops as yesterday. Here you can see students playing volleyball and games on the field as elective workshops, and Manu’s Mega’s doing the Bridge Building workshop with Manu!
